Reported information is used to identify and evaluate educational, engineering and enforcement solutions to losses associated with Oregon's fire and hazardous materials incidents.

| Data Request & Special Studies |

Oregon's emergency incident data is available to citizens, fire departments, local, state and federal agencies, insurance companies and the media. Fire departments use the data to apply for state, federal and private grants.
If you have a need for this type of analysis, please contact the staff by email or telephone. Some of these requests are quite complicated and additional communication may be needed to best fill the request.

| Oregon NFIRS Information |

Since 1977, Oregon has submitted fire incident data to be included in the national database. The 1996 and 1997 data was not included because of the differences in the version of NFPA 901 codes that were being used by the Oregon program and the USFA program. In January of 1998 USFA produced a new program using NFIRS 5.0. This program enables Oregon to provide electronic information in the NFIRS 5 format.

Oregon Fire Bridge
Fire BridgeTM is the new internet-based incident reporting system for Oregon fire departments. The Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) launched Fire BridgeTM on January 1, 2010, replacing a system that had become obsolete after 13 years of use. Fire BridgeTM utilizes modern technology, is user-friendly, and has numerous features that advance the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of Oregon fire data.
All fire departments in Oregon have their own secure online accounts in Fire BridgeTM, which they access via usernames and passwords provided to select staff members. Hundreds of fire service personnel throughout the state have participated in Fire BridgeTM training workshops conducted by the OSFM. In addition, many departments conduct in-house training sessions using the OSFM’s Fire BridgeTM training website.
Fire BridgeTM is a centralized data repository for Oregon fire department data. The system not only has automated forms to record and report incident information, but also provides record-keeping and tracking of staff, equipment, inspections, pre-planning, activities, training, and compensation. In addition, the system allows users to generate reports to help individual fire departments and the OSFM evaluate operational areas, such as response time, fire causes, etc.

Standards of Cover
Does your fire department or district have a Standards of Cover (SOC) document? The SOC examines a fire agency’s performance with regard to the needs of the community it serves, identifies service level objectives that the agency can currently meet, and helps identify service level objectives the agency should work to achieve to be more effective. A well-written SOC arms the fire chief with essential information when discussing agency performance and needs with the board of directors. The Office of State Fire Marshal offers several resources to help Oregon fire departments and districts prepare an effective SOC document.
