Eight of the Oregon State Police Recruits have entered a new phase in the ir training and quest to become an Oregon State Police Trooper. On March 31, 2008, only two days after completing the Oregon State Police Pre-academy, they entered the DPSST Basic Police Academy Class 303. As members of the Basic Police (BP) Class 303 they have taken on various duties to assist in the day to day functions such as class leader, Color Guard, class photographer, and Chair of the T-Shirt Committee.
Two recruits are temporarily assigned to the OSP-Portland Station as they wait to enter the next DPSST BP Class 304 starting on March 29, 2008.
One recruit is assigned to the OSP-Portland Patrol Office from an out of state, city police department as a "Lateral" member. He will not return for the DPSST Academy due to his previous experience but will return on July 27, 2008 for the OSP Advanced Academy where he will be reunited with all of his classmates for the completion of his training.
